AUSTIN, TEXAS – Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field senior All-American jumper Christian Pfeiffer (Amherst) has been named as a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Cross Country and Track and Field Academic All-American for the first time in his career.
Pfeiffer becomes the 131st BW student-athlete to earn Academic All-American honors, including the 14th men's cross country/track and field member.
Pfeiffer, who was named to the second-team, carried a 3.59 grade point average in sustainability and environmental science.
This season, he qualified for his second appearance to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. Pfeiffer qualified for the high jump with his qualifying height of 2.12 meters at the OAC Outdoor Championships. He earned his second career All-American honor after placing third in the high jump with a height of 2.11 meters. Pfeiffer became the first BW male high jumper in modern history (cir. 1974) to earn indoor and outdoor All-American honors in the same academic year. He is also the first male student-athlete in 14 years to earn these honors twice for a single event in the same academic year. Pfeiffer was No. 1 in the nation for the majority of the season.
At the OAC Outdoor Championships, he won the high jump for the second consecutive year, earning his fourth career All-OAC honor. Prior to the OACs, his distance broke a 47 year-old BW outdoor record that was previously tied by three student-athletes.
Pfeiffer, who is the defending NCAA Division III Indoor High Jump Champion, is also the recipient of the 2023-24 Clyde A. Lamb Award. Off the field, he is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, USTFCCCA All-Region honoree, Academic All-OAC selection, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.
