CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball junior middle hitter Reed Fisher (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) has been named the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Fisher, the third Defensive Player of the Week selection for the Yellow Jackets this season, led the Brown and Gold over Adrian (Mich.) College and the University of Olivet (Mich.) this past weekend to help the men's volleyball squad begin conference play 2-0 and to improve to an overall record of 8-8.
In BW's three-set sweep of Adrian, Fisher totaled four block assists and a dig for the Yellow Jacket defense and added eight kills on the offensive side. He then added seven more block assists and five kills in the team's victory over Olivet.
On the season, Fisher has appeared in 11 matches and 36 sets. He is second on the team in total blocks with three block solos and 23 block assists averaging a team-best 0.72 blocks per set. Fisher has also added six digs, two aces, and 48 kills on 85 attacks for a team-high .447 hitting percentage.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Thursday, March 7 as it travels to Thousand Oaks, Calif. to compete in the first day of the CLU Invitational hosted by California Lutheran University. The Yellow Jackets will take on host No. 6 nationally ranked Cal Lutheran at 9 p.m. inside Gilbert Arena.
