BEREA, OHIO --- Junior Kim Chinn (Zanesville/West Muskingum) set a school-record and was runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:30.53 earning All-America honors on day two (Friday, May 28) of the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Baldwin Wallace at Finnie Stadium in Berea.
In addition, senior All-American Greg Patrick (Collins/Western Reserve) finished seventh in the shot put to earn All-America for the second straight year and senior Steve Price (North Olmsted) was 10th in the decathlon.
Chinn's time broke the school record by eight seconds and bettered her personal best by 15 seconds. She became the third woman in BW history to earn All-America honors in the steeplechase.
"I felt really good the whole time and I am really surprised of how well I did. I felt good at the beginning and ran with a consistent pace," said Chinn.
"I ran a smart race and it was great running here (at BW). My goal was to improve by seven seconds, but I am surprised with a 15-second improvement," continued Chinn.
Patrick finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 53 feet, seven and one half inches. Patrick earned All-America honors in the outdoor shot put for the second straight year as he finished eighth in 2009. He was fourth in his qualifying flight and hit his best mark on his fifth throw of the day.
"I'm happy with my performance today," said Patrick. "It wasn't my best, but I'll take it. I got a little nervous not knowing whether I would make the finals, but I knew if I got into the top nine (finals), I would make an improvement."

"I loved having the event at my home venue. It was great to have my friends and family here cheering me on. I just want to thank everyone from BW who came out to support me in my final event," noted Patrick.
Senior Steve Price (North Olmsted) competed on the second and final day of the 10-event men's decathlon and placed 10th, with a career-best score of 6,784 points. He placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.60 seconds and finished fifth in the discus with a career-best throw of 119'7". Price also placed 10th in the pole vault portion of the event, clearing 13'7.25", and fifth in the javelin throw with a season-best mark of 172'10". In the final event of the day, the 1,500-meter run, Price was 10th with a career-best time of 4:51.47.
"I started well. I had a great hurdle time and a personal best in the discus after I fouled the first two throws," said Price. "In javelin, I got close to a PR. In the 1,500, that was the hardest I've ever run. I was exactly where I needed to be to stay in contention for All-America."
"Having my family and friends here was the only reason I ran as well as I did. If it (the national meet) was anywhere else, I wouldn't have made that extra push," continued Price.
Junior Kevin Phipps (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) competes on Saturday in the discus throw at 2:30 p.m. with freshman Mitch Supan (Medina/Walsh Jesuit). Phipps earned All-American honors with a sixth place finish in the hammer throw yesterday.
