CANTON, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College football team was picked to finish third by both the coaches and Media at the Annual Ohio Athletic Conference Football Media Day today (Tuesday, August 9, 2011) at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
A year ago, the Yellow Jackets finished at 7-3 overall and 6-3 (third) in the OAC under Head Coach John Snell, who enters his 10th year at his alma mater with a 56-36 career record. B-W returns 17 starters and 42 letterwinners this fall.
The Jackets were represented at Media Day by Snell, senior safety Ryan Dugan (Mentor) and senior tight end Aaron Hurd (Tiffin/Coiumbian).
At Media Day, B-W received 57 total points from the nine voting OAC Coaches (a coach cannot vote for his own team) to place third and 165 total points from the 23 voting members of the media to finish third as well. Defending OAC and 11-time national champion University of Mount Union was the definitive choice by the coaches and media to repeat as OAC champions.
"We embrace the ranking that we were given and based off our finish last season I think the poll positions are fair," said Snell. "But as we always say, it's not where you start it's where you finish." "We (B-W) finished higher than we were picked last year and it's our goal to finish higher than where we are picked again this season."
