AKRON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's and men's swimming and diving teams finished fifth at 2014 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium. BW was the host school.
The Yellow Jacket women finished fifth of seven teams with 447 points, set seven school records and had two OAC Champions.
The BW women were led by freshman diver Alice Clark (Fairview Park/Fairview) won the 3-meter dive with 428.40 points Clark was the OAC Champion in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events and was named the OAC Female Diver of the Year. Sophomore diver Maddie Fortune (Akron/Firestone) took second in the 3-meter dive and earned All-OAC with 392.70 points.
In addition to the divers, senior All-OAC freestyler Angela Musille (Canton/GlenOak) took second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:26.56. She had the fifth fastest qualifying time in prelims with 2:28.94 Senior Emma Gerdes (Avon) finished fifth in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:10.31. She had a season-best time of 2:10.01. Freshman Becca Weil (Ypsilanti, Mich./Milan) placed seventh in the 1650-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 18:48.50. Junior Kayla Eyster (Canton, Mich. /Plymouth-Canton) finished eighth in the 100-yard freestyle with a season-best mark of 55.49. She had the eighth best qualifying in prelims with 55.61. Senior Caitlin Wilson (Wycombe, Pa./Council Rock North) was 10th in the 1650 free with a season-best time of 18:57.52. Junior Olivia Vocke (Napoleon) placed 10th in the 200 breast with a season-best time of 2:37.10. Sophomore Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) was 10th in the 200-yard butterfly in a season-best time of 2:19.68.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Ashbaugh, Gerdes, Musille and Eyster finished fourth in a school record time of 3:40.31
